Hardwood floors are beautiful, but they’re not waterproof. Older laminate flooring was easier to clean and maintain than hardwood but it would still swell, warp or bubble if exposed to water. But now you can choose between waterproof carpet, laminate or vinyl to meet all your flooring needs.

How is waterproof carpet possible? New technology creates smart strands- a waterproof barrier on the carpet strands and has made it possible to get the warm cozy feeling of carpet in any room. It’s easy to clean, pet friendly, won’t stain or get moldy from dampness. Ask about our selection of Mohawk Smartstrand carpet.

Laminate flooring gives you the look of hardwood floors with easier maintenance but still warps if it gets wet. Waterproof laminate is a better option in basements, baths and kitchens- where moisture and spills happen more often. Check out the waterproof flooring options on our website.

You may be wondering why we would add vinyl to the list. Hasn’t vinyl always been waterproof? To some extent yes, but it’s not the most durable. That’s why we’re excited to introduce you to WPC vinyl.

WPC stands for wood plastic composite and it makes it possible for us to offer you a luxury vinyl flooring option- think tiles and planks that give you a modern wood or ceramic tile look- that is 100% waterproof.

WPC vinyl has a similar feel to laminate but is thicker than typical vinyl flooring. It installs glueless and locks into place, similar to installing laminate floors. WPC doesn’t need underlayment and is made up of four layers:

  1. 1.) Top coat or wear layer
  2. 2.) Vinyl
  3. 3.) The decorative print
  4. 4.) WPC Core which is plastics, wood pulp and foam

WPC is comfortable, affordable, doesn’t swell and is easy to maintain.

Waterproof flooring is a pet friendly option and a great for high traffic, high moisture areas in your home. Contact us at Xterior Plus and we’ll help you choose the right flooring option for you.
